The i-61 Missions Training Center located in Managua, Nicaragua exists to train and empower individuals and churches to do justice and compassion ministry in Nicaragua and beyond. We work in partnership with existing ministries and the local church. Ministry offices are located in the Nehemiah Center which houses several different ministries and encourages collaboration in training and projects. There are currently 6 full time i-61 missionaries working and living in the Managua area.
i-61 purposefully established its first training base in Nicaragua because it is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Our heart is to radically inspire teams for missions and leave them with a desire to influence communities in practical ways. Additionally, our strategy is to make a long-lasting, sustainable difference in our local Nicaraguan communities through these short-term teams and our long-term coworkers. We value the local church and try, as much as we can, to work through the body of Christ.
The main service provided by i-61 in Nicaragua is a 10-day training experience for short term missions teams on the 7 areas of global crisis. This 10-day trip radically inspires teams to be agents of change in a hurting world; equipping them with practical skills and the tools they need to follow God’s call.
In addition, the ministry staff leads one day seminars on World Poverty for groups visiting other ministries and works alongside the established ministry partners to support their ongoing work. Individuals who wish to serve longer in Nicaragua are connected with ministries that offer internship programs.
If you are a ministry working or serving in Nicaragua and interested in having our i-61 Nicaragua staff lead a workshop for your staff or visiting teams, contact us to set up a time. Additionally, if you are interested in partnering with us to have our teams visit your ministry we would love to hear from you.
