Entering the Season of Re:

On Sunday, August 23, the Lord spoke to me about the spiritual season believers are entering this Fall. The change of seasons in the natural sometimes gives way for the supernatural to bring hope and new life. This morning as I drove home from dropping the kids off at school, colors sprinkled the ground with orange, yellow, and red leaves on every street. With brisk mornings and leaves dropping, we know that winter is approaching. The earth is preparing for barrenness to come.

And yet, the body of believers has the hope of entering the season of Re:

It is both a season and a movement. :”Re- what?”, you ask? This prefix is used with verbs, not nouns. It is a movement,… an action that God wants to do.

It starts with Re-pent. That is the only action on our part required. God will lead you in this if you ask him. Reading through Revelation 1-4, we see that the seven churches in Asia were called to repent of specific sins, with a warning if they did not and a promise if they did. God wanted them to be more alive in Him and prepared for the tribulation that would come. He wanted them to change direction— turning away from sin and towards Him who wanted to pour out His blessing. If we are honest with ourselves, we struggle with many of those same sins.

Many of us have abandoned the love we had at first for Jesus (Rev. 2:4) Maybe some have struggled with sexual immorality (Rev. 2:14; 2:20-22). Some of us have fallen asleep and settled for mediocre instead of God’s best for us (Rev. 3:2). Some of us are neither hot nor cold (Rev. 3:15-16). Our wealth and self-made independence can easily cause us to not need anything or anyone, which lessens our desperation for God (Rev. 3:17).

God says, “Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline.” (Rev. 19).

Will you consider repenting today and seizing the moment to turn away from anything that is not God’s best for you? He promises that anyone who opens the door of their hearts to Him, will be loved and accepted by Him (Rev. 3:20) He is calling us to re-pent and re-turn to Him (Isaiah 44:22).

We want the rest of the season to come! The rest of the story is that when we repent, God will provide and pour out His blessing and Spirit upon us! Acts 3:19 says, “Repent then, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out and the times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

He is calling us to a movement of Re: He wants to:

  • Re-new our strength (Isaiah 40”31)

  • Re-vive our spirits (Isaiah 57:15)

  • Re-store our soul (Psalm 23:3)

  • Re-pair, Re-build, and Re-store the ruins (Amos 9:11)

  • Re-plant what was desolate (Ezekiel 36:36)

  • Re-fresh us (Acts 3:19)

  • Re-deem us as a people who are His (Titus 2:14)

  • Re-concile us as one body (Ephesians 2:16)

This is exciting! God is wanting to display His full glory in all His creation, bringing life out of death, and renewal to our weary souls. Let’s celebrate the times we start to see this happening, and share the stories of God’s movement of “Re-”. Let’s encourage each other, pray for God to do this, and believe together that God wants to re-deem all people to right relationship with Himself (2 Peter 3:9). Can you imagine what the Harvest might look like?!
